My First Ghost

To tell you the truth, I'm really not sure which one came first.  I think I'm going to go with the ghost I called "Pillow Face".  I wasn't even in kindergarten yet when I started seeing Pillow Face.  It probably started when I got my very own room to sleep in.  When I went to bed at night, my mom would leave my bedroom door open.  Through the door I could see into the family room and part of the kitchen.  Around the corner of my door was a hallway leading to a bathroom and my parents' room at the end, and straight across from my door was my sister's room.  But it was the hallway... everything came from the hallway.

The dark... I was afraid of the dark.  Well, not the dark itself, but what was in the dark.  I really don't ever remember sleeping at night without some kind of nightlight on.  And to be honest... I still need some small source of light, even if it is coming from outside.  If I can't see what is around me, they can hide.  Imaging hearing something and not being able to see what it is... that's when they really screw with you.  Well, back to Pillow Face... even though I had my small source of light, I saw it.  Every single night, Pillow Face would poke its head around the corner from the hallway and peek into my room, just staring.  When Pillow Face would appear, I could feel my eyes widen, my heart beat faster, and I would start to sweat.  I tried not to fall asleep because I was afraid it would come into my bedroom when I did.  Of course, I could only stay awake so long.  This was my cozy, good nights sleep, every night.

Thinking about Pillow Face now... it looked more like someone with a white bag over their head.  But back then, I didn't know any better- if I did, it probably would have been that much scarier.  When I finally was in grade school- maybe around 10yrs old, I started shutting my door at night.  So, I stopped seeing Pillow Face.

  1. My first ghost was seeing a series of shadow people around my grandparent's house. Sometimes they would appear even in broad daylight. I always thought it was just my imagination or that I was half-crazy. Turns out, a lot of other people have seem them as well.

  2. You're right, many others do see shadow people. For those of you that are unfamiliar, shadow people look like a shadow of a person but is more solid. The figure is very defined, completely black but translucent. Usually we see them out of the corner of our eye. You turn to look and there is nothing there. Trust me, there is something there and you're not nuts. Since you brought up shadow people, that will be the subject of my next post. A shadow person just happens to be my second ghost.

  3. I think my first "ghost" was something like this too. I put this in quotations because I don't really know what it actually was, but it was when I was around the same age as yourself in this post.

I was also in my own room, and I think it was either when I was still in my crib or when I had gotten my first bed. My mom would also leave the door open and the light on in the hallway so that I wouldn't get scared. The view I had was just the hallway, though, the wall on the other side. We lived in a very small trailer that had been built up on a foundation.

One night I saw my mom walking slowly down the hall past my door, towards her bedroom. I assumed she had been up to the bathroom or something. I called out to her and she slowly stopped, turned her head with excruciating slowness to look at me, and then spoke. But when her mouth moved, no words came out. Her mouth just moved for awhile and then she slowly turned back, heading towards her bedroom again.

I listened carefully and didn't hear the sound of her bedroom door being opened and closed again, and when I asked her about it in the morning, she had no recollection of being up that night. Insisted she hadn't been.

So, I still don't know what that was all about. I know I wasn't dreaming, and I never ever forgot.

That started a string of events for the rest of my life thus far it seems, heh.

  4. That's a very interesting story. People often describe events like that as echos in time or residual energy. But that seems hard to explain since your mother was obviously alive at that time. You may have been looking into a future event or there is also the theory of multiple dimensions. Whatever that was, you caught a glimpse of something. Have you had any other experiences with clairvoyance?

  5. Yes, or at least, I've had MANY other paranormal experiences over my lifetime.

I would love to discuss them, but I'm not sure where to do so, as there are honestly a lot. I do have a chat room that Lycaon (he's posted on your blog as well) and I would be willing to host some chats in, or at least you could swing by sometime if you like.

Otherwise I think I could just write up a huge post on my own blog about it, if there is interest.

We're generally VERY quiet and there's usually only two of us in there at a time. Feel free though, I hope we can chat together sometime!

Otherwise if we miss you, I did post my own experiences on my blog, can be seen here: http://luinbariel.blogspot.com/2011/11/v-behaviorurldefaultvmlo.html

  8. Interesting. Please feel free to drop by Kim.

My first ghost... I can't say my first experience was from when I was quite as young as yourself or Luin. I was at least in my teens.

I walked into my room one time. I believe it was during the day, and turned towards my bed. Kneeling next to my bed was a young girl. It honestly looked like she was praying. I can't be sure if she turned towards me. But I remember my heart pounding in my chest, I blinked and then she was gone.

I remember when we were looking at this house, the bedroom I am in now had a I want to say brass, but I'm not sure if that was the actual metal or not, bed. I want to say it was a child's, or at least a smaller bed than I have because it didn't extend past the closet like mine does now.

That's not the only thing Ive seen in my room. But whats really strange about them is that they have all been singular occurrences, not something that has happened again and again.
